Studio 19a

Studio 19a

My studio is designed for an artist who paints outdoors. So he or she can do so, I gave him/her a studio with a "painting outdoors kit". In it, there are a few canvases, oil paints, paint brushes, a spray bottle, and easel, and a little pool of water below the canvas. Also in the studio, I put a miniature refrigerator for when my artist gets hungry. I have a book shelf because of when he needs to study the fundamentals of outdoors. I have a sink for washing brushes and cleaning out containers. I have a CD player for my artist when he's have painter's block or when he feels the need to listen to music while he works. I have a desk for his thinking of what to draw and/or for sketching. Also with that desk, I have an awesome, comfy white chair. And on the desk, I have a lamp so he can see what he's sketching. I have a floor lamp and a ceiling light bulb; my artist can decide which ever he wants, when he's in the mood. I have a few windows so he can see out when he gets claustrophobic, and also when he needs to look our for his painting. I painted my walls pink because pink is a very inspirational color and tends to make new ideas come. My floors are made of wood for the comfort that wood brings. I purchased my wooden door because it brings more customers for its extreme way of attracting people or things. My studio is most fitting for a typical outdoor-painting artist.

329/365 Abandoned playhouse

(Our Daily Challenge - ABANDONED)

Was at my mom's house yesterday for the Thanksgiving holiday and immediately thought of this for this challenge. This is a playhouse that my grandfather built for my brother and I when we were kids. It has withstood the test of time thanks to the solid construction of solid wood with a shingled roof, glass window (not visible), solid door (with lock and everything!), and linoleum floors. It was painted white with red trim.

As a little girl, I had a play kitchen with stove, refrigerator, and sink in there. It morphed into different things as we got older (I grew into more of a tom-boy as I got older) like a clubhouse, a pirate club (no girls allowed according to my brother as we had some pictures of it with a sign above the door, my brother mis-spelled the sign, it was supposed to read "private", haha). I even remember my brother locking me inside when we had a fight once. I still remember getting in trouble for taking can of spray paint and painting the outside walls (you can still see the swirls of paint above the door, just under the roofline). :-) Good memories...

It's looking a little weathered these days with the peeling paint and the shingles are starting to curl, but after decades of being exposed to the weather, it's still holding up just fine and is now used to house some of the gardening supplies that my mom uses.
